Strafe outerwear as worn by Mac Bohannon of the US Ski Team.
This outerwear stopped me in my tracks – the clean design and construction of 3-layer hardshell technical fabric, bright red/ blue color combo with white contrast zips, new school fit, and a brand name I had never heard of – it was a powerful introduction to Strafe.
Strafe is a new outerwear company based in Aspen, Colorado – to be precise, Aspen Highlands – which let’s be honest, it doesn’t get much better for a home base. Twin brothers, John and Pete Gaston founded the company in 2009 to fill a need for technical outerwear specific in function, fit and styling for the backcountry freeskier. Perhaps no other piece embodies this objective better than Strafe’s signature Sickbird one-piece suit. With this authenticity and Highland Bowl as testing ground, I’m sold!
Back to Mac. He is a super-talented (and super-friendly) freestyle aerialist who lives in Lake Placid, New York and trains full-time at the Olympic Training Center. Aerial competition demands more sleek outerwear but Mac loves Strafe for freeskiing. Watch him in action at macbohonnon.com.
